⭐ WISE 2026 LEADERSHIP COMMITMENT & ROLE OVERVIEW


πŸ”· GENERAL COMMITMENT EXPECTATIONS (All Board & Committee Leaders)

Every WISE Board Member and Committee Chair agrees to:

Serve a 1-year term (unless otherwise defined by bylaws).

Attend the monthly Board of Directors meeting on the 1st Tuesday at 9:00 AM.

Maintain active communication via Start a Network

Support WISE’s mission, values, and growth strategies.

Participate in major WISE events and initiatives.

Provide monthly updates on committee progress and needs.

Adhere to WISE bylaws and governance procedures.

Committee Leadership Requirement:
Each Board Member will be assigned one Committee Chair to support, mentor, and maintain communication with regularly.

Committee Membership Expectation:
Each general WISE member may serve on up to two (2) committees to ensure balanced participation and prevent burnout.

Committee Size Recommendation:
Committees should strive to have up to 5 members, including the Chair.

The President provides overall strategic leadership, oversees governance, and serves as the primary spokesperson of WISE.

Responsible for financial oversight and fiscal stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain accurate financial records of the organization.

Present a financial update at each monthly Board meeting.

Oversee budgeting, expense approval, and financial reporting.

Ensure compliance with banking, tax, and nonprofit reporting guidelines.

Collaborate with Committee Chairs to manage event and program budgets.

Work with the Scholarship Committee on scholarship fund distribution.

Maintain transparency with the Board regarding financial health.

Responsible for documentation, organization, and governance communication.

Key Responsibilities:

Record and distribute accurate minutes for each Board meeting.

Maintain official records, documents, and organizational archives.

Oversee Board correspondence and communication protocols.

Track attendance and participation for governance compliance.

Assist Committee Chairs with documentation needs.

Ensure that bylaws, policies, and procedures are properly filed.

Directors serve as strategic leaders and liaisons to assigned committees.

Key Responsibilities:

Attend all monthly Board meetings and strategic planning sessions.

Provide oversight, mentorship, and support to assigned Committee Chairs.

Identify opportunities for WISE growth, partnerships, and initiatives.

Assist with major events, member engagement, and community outreach.

Uphold and model WISE values, professionalism, and inclusivity.

Focused on maintaining, updating, and ensuring organizational compliance.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Review bylaws annually and propose updates as needed.

Monitor organizational decisions to ensure bylaw compliance.

Provide education and clarification to members on bylaw requirements.

Help resolve governance disputes related to interpretation of bylaws.

Maintain accurate records of amendments and governance changes.

Support the Secretary with accurate document storage.

Responsible for scholarship awareness, selection, funding, and reporting.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Promote scholarship opportunities through events and online channels.

Review applications and recommend recipients using approved criteria.

Coordinate fundraising activities dedicated to scholarship expansion.

Manage scholarship announcements and award distribution.

Track recipient progress and collect follow-up testimonials or updates.

Work closely with the Treasurer to ensure proper fund allocation.

Supports member care, recognition, and community connection.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Recognize birthdays, member milestones, achievements, and anniversaries.

Send encouragement, cards, or small gifts to members during difficult times.

Plan community-building social activities as needed.

Maintain regular communication to boost member engagement.

Coordinate volunteer helpers for Sunshine outreach activities.

Responsible for planning and executing WISE programs and events.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Plan and organize workshops, networking events, and special meetings.

Manage logistics: venue, schedule, guest speakers, catering, supplies.

Collaborate with the Marketing team for event promotion and visibility.

Seek sponsorships and partnerships to support event funding.

Conduct event evaluations, collect feedback, and improve future planning.

Maintain a working events calendar for Board review.


πŸ”Ή Fundraising Committee

Ensures financial support for WISE initiatives, scholarships, and events.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Develop and execute fundraising campaigns and initiatives.

Identify grant opportunities or community sponsorships.

Partner with the Events Committee for fundraising-driven events.

Track fundraising progress and report to the Treasurer monthly.

Recognize donors and maintain positive donor relations.

Build a donor/fundraising outreach list for future campaigns.
