Hello WISE Women! We kicked off April with our monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 8th and we’re excited to share that we’ve made a small change to our schedule! Networking still begins at 7:45 AM, giving everyone a chance to connect casually before our meeting officially starts at 8:00 AM sharp. No need to bring your own coffee—we’ve got you covered with fresh coffee and hot chocolate! Come early to sip, smile, and mingle! A huge thank you goes out to Grace and Annett for their incredible support in helping host our recent fundraising events. While attendance was smaller than we hoped—with four guests at the wine tasting and three participants in the self-defense class—we are still grateful for every dollar raised. Every contribution counts and moves us closer to our goal of funding a deserving student’s scholarship! Let’s rally together to boost our future events! We encourage all members to invite friends, family, and colleagues to attend—and don’t forget to share our donation QR code for those who may not be able to attend but still want to support. We’re also open to fresh ideas for events that can draw more interest and participation—your input is always valued! We were also thrilled to welcome, new member, Stephanie Gartman with BN Mortgage as our April speaker. She introduced us to a powerful investment opportunity through the Fix & Flip/Fix & Hold programs, which allow buyers to qualify for investment properties based on the property’s value rather than personal income. It was an eye-opening presentation with real potential for anyone interested in real estate investment! Spring Skin Reset: How to Refresh Your Skincare Routine for the New Season By Christine Moreau, Beauty Guide & Skincare Educator Spring is the perfect time to give your skin a little reset. As the weather warms up and humidity rises, our skin’s needs start to shift—and if you’re like me (a woman in her forties who’s been around the skincare block), you know that sticking to the same routine year-round just doesn’t cut it. Here are three simple ways to transition your skincare for the season: 1. Exfoliate Gently, but Consistently Winter can leave behind a layer of dull, dry skin. Using a gentle exfoliator 2–3 times a week helps slough off those dead cells and brings your natural glow back to the surface. Bonus: it helps your serums and moisturizers absorb better, too. 2. Lighten Up Your Moisturizer What worked in the winter may now feel too heavy. Swap out thick creams for lightweight hydrators with ingredients like aloe, squalane, or hyaluronic acid. Your skin will still feel nourished—just not weighed down. 3. Don’t Skip the SPF I know, I know—we say it all the time, but it’s worth repeating: SPF isn’t just for summer vacations. UV rays are stronger in spring, and they’re the biggest culprit behind premature aging, hyperpigmentation, and melasma (ask me how I know). Use at least SPF 30 daily, even on cloudy days. Small changes, big results. Your skin will thank you—trust me. And if you need personalized product suggestions, I’m always here to help!

For our April meeting, Busy Professional Book Club read and discussed Daring Greatly by Brene Brown. If you’ve never heard of her, Brene Brown is a shame, vulnerability, courage, and empathy researcher. She’s published multiple books on these topics and has done multiple TED talks, one of which, from TEDx Houston in 2020 is one of the five most viewed TED talks. Brown based Daring Greatly from a quote from Theodore Roosevelt: “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; … who at best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at words, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly.” This book is compiled of research related to vulnerability, and how facing our vulnerabilities allows us to form deeper connections, both with ourselves and with other people. Brown mixes research and anecdotes to explain how vulnerability is not weakness, and sharing our true selves with the right people leads to more meaningful relationships. The concepts in Daring Greatly can be applied by anyone, from entrepreneurs, to parents, to leaders, and anyone looking to engage with others in a more wholehearted way. 🛍️ Cinco de Mayo Celebration: Supporting WISE 2025 Scholarship 🛍️

Get Ready for Our Next Big Fundraiser – May 3! Mark your calendars and help us make our May 3rd fundraiser a huge success! This event is a key opportunity to raise money for our scholarship fund, and we’re calling on all WISE members to pitch in and bring the energy! We’re still accepting paid vendor registrations, so if someone you know would love the chance to set up a table and showcase a business, send them our way! It’s a great opportunity for exposure while supporting a meaningful cause. Direct anyone interested to our website to sign up!

If you’re not participating as a vendor, we still need all hands on deck to make this event shine. We’re asking members to sign up for volunteer shifts to assist with setup, welcome guests, manage our silent auction, and help keep the energy high! We also need a few hype women to help bring people inside and encourage shopping and bidding. And speaking of the silent auction—we’re still collecting donations! Whether it’s a product, service, gift card, or experience, your contribution can make a big impact and get more eyes on your business, too. Let’s rally together, promote this event, and make it one to remember. Every bit of help makes a difference—and so does your voice in spreading the word!
