Building Momentum: WISE February Updates
Hello, WISE Members! Our February 11th meeting was filled with vibrant new energy, thanks to Annett, our newly appointed treasurer, who kicked things off beautifully! She called the meeting to order, shared our mission statement, and led a fun icebreaker. Members described their businesses in just three words and tackled some “this or that” questions—most of us agreeing that toilet paper always goes over, not under! Diana recapped our Sip & Support fundraiser, where we raised an incredible $540 for the 2025 scholarship through donations and the silent auction. This brings us closer to making a meaningful difference for a local female student. Our board is now fully staffed with seven members! We’re thrilled to welcome Annett as treasurer and Elaine as a director. Diana also switched gears to share her expertise as “The Social Butterfly,” explaining how she keeps her clients’ social media buzzing with up-to-date content, campaigns, and posts in many groups. Her passion for helping businesses succeed with integrity and character shone through, and Kim shared a glowing testimonial about the incredible business growth she’s experienced by working with Diana. We were excited to welcome three visitors to this month’s meeting and are already looking forward to our upcoming scholarship fundraisers—details can be found below. Warm regards, Christine Moreau On behalf of the WISE Board

Pro Makeup Tips for a Flawless, Radiant Look: When it comes to makeup, a few thoughtful techniques can make all the difference! Whether you’re a makeup minimalist or a beauty enthusiast, these tips will help you elevate your routine and enhance your natural glow: 💄 Prime for perfection – A good primer smooths your skin and creates the perfect base for long-lasting makeup. 💄 Less is more – Use foundation and concealer sparingly to let your natural skin shine through. This creates a fresh, glowing look while minimizing texture. 💄 Shape your brows – Filled-in brows frame your face beautifully and give a lifted, polished appearance. 💄 Enhance your eyes – Try soft brown eyeliner for a natural definition, tight-line your upper lashes, curl your lashes, and finish with black mascara to make your eyes pop. 💄 Set strategically – Use setting powder to reduce shine and minimize creasing, focusing on fine lines and oily areas like the nose and T-zone. 💄 Blush wisely – Apply blush to your cheekbones instead of the apples for a more sculpted, lifted look. 💄 Finish with setting spray – Lock everything in place to keep your makeup fresh all day. Makeup is a tool to celebrate and enhance your unique beauty—whatever your age or style. Experiment with these tips, and let your confidence shine!
Do you have trouble bragging about yourself and your business accomplishments? Does hearing the word brag bring up negative feelings of arrogant people who just don't stop talking about themselves? You're not alone; many people, especially women, feel the same. This month, the Busy Professional Book Club read and discussed the book Brag Better by Meredith Fineman. This book provided a how-to guide for learning to Brag Better, when it comes to talking about our accomplishments. There are three pillars of bragging better: be proud, be loud, and be strategic. For many, the concept of bragging on ourselves feels wrong. Fineman challenges readers to change their perception of bragging to just stating facts. The fact is you started a business. The fact is that you brought x amount of value to your customer. The fact is that you did xyz. When you change your thought process, bragging just becomes sharing information. It is important not to over-inflate your achievements. Being loud doesn’t mean raising your voice. In this context, Fineman means consistently, and in the appropriate situations, making sure that we are talking about our wins. This doesn’t mean starting every single conversation with every award you’ve ever done. It does mean reading the room and making sure that you’re not missing opportunities to share the good you’ve done. The last pillar, strategy, pertains to what you’re trying to accomplish with bragging. Is your goal to secure new customers? Is it to get media coverage for a project that you did that helped solve a problem? By strategically communicating the right information to the right audience, you can make sure your brags help your desired outcome. This book is an excellent read for anyone who needs a little encouragement and a step-by-step guide to crafting your brags and how to tailor them for nearly any situation.
