Exciting Updates & Upcoming Events!

Hello lovely WISE ladies! We had a great turnout at our March meeting, welcoming three visitors and plenty of new faces. Our guest speaker, Rebecca Quiggle, delivered a passionate talk on the benefits of Juice Plus+ and how proper nutrition impacts overall health. We’ve also solidified three exciting fundraising events for our 2025 scholarship—details on each can be found below. We need everyone’s help to spread the word, invite friends, and ensure these events are a success! Additionally, if you know a female senior in Northwest ISD who would be a great scholarship candidate, please encourage them to apply at wisewomendfw.com. Looking ahead, we have lots of fun things planned through July, including our annual pool party and scholarship luncheon. Be sure to check out the upcoming events section and mark your calendars—we can’t wait to see you there! Have you shared your expertise with WISE yet? If not, now’s the perfect time to step up! Speaking at a meeting is a great way for us to get to know you and your business better. Elaine will be our speaker in April, but we’re looking for volunteers for the months ahead. Sign up today—we’d love to hear from you! Warm regards, Christine Moreau On behalf of the WISE Board

Spring Clean Your Beauty Bag: When to Toss & Refresh Your Makeup As you refresh your home this spring, don’t forget about your makeup bag! Skincare and cosmetics have expiration dates, and using old products can lead to irritation, breakouts, and even infections. Here’s a quick guide to keeping your beauty routine fresh and safe: 💋Mascara should be replaced every three months to prevent bacterial buildup that can lead to eye infections. 💋Eyeshadows and eyeliners should be sanitized regularly—a quick spritz of alcohol on powders and sharpening pencils can help keep germs at bay. Toss your eyeshadow after two years! Over time, natural oils from your skin transfer onto the product, affecting its texture, blendability, and overall performance. 💋Brushes should be washed weekly with brush cleaner to remove oil, bacteria, and product buildup. If you need a good one, Limelife has an awesome vegan brush cleanser that I will gladly help you with. 💋Sponges should be cleaned regularly and replaced every six months (or sooner if they start to break down) to ensure a smooth, bacteria-free application. 💋Sunscreen has a shelf life of about 6-9 months after opening. Using expired SPF may leave your skin unprotected from harmful UV rays. Luckily, LimeLife has wonderful options to replace anything you need to refresh and it will be my pleasure to be your Beauty Guide! Take a few minutes this season to check expiration dates, sanitize your products, and swap out anything that’s past its prime—your skin will thank you!

Last month I recommended a wonderful non-fiction book perfect for us entrepreneurs who need a little help when it comes to bragging about our accomplishments. This month, I’m going to switch up and recommend a fiction book, for those of you who maybe don’t get to read a lot of fiction or want to start! The book I’m recommending this month is The Favorites by Layne Fargo. If you are a fan of Taylor Jenkins Reid (Daisy Jones & the Six, Carrie Soto is Back) or Wuthering Heights, this book is a must read. Actually, this book is a must read for pretty much anyone. It is captivating from the very beginning and will hold your attention to the very last page. Set in the world of competitive figure skating, The Favorites follows Katarina Shaw and Heath Rocha as they overcome less-than-ideal circumstances to rise to fame as champion figure skaters. Their passion and chemistry are undeniable, as are their skills. But competition is fierce, and it isn’t enough to keep them at the top. The tension and drama, not just between Kat and Heath, but between all the characters, have this novel feeling like a reality tv documentary in the very best way. Personally, I think this book is best enjoyed in audio-format, but either way, it is an absolutely riveting story that will have you hooked from the start.
