October 2024
Hello WISE Members! Our October meeting was a fantastic success, with a great turnout and an exciting buzz in the air! We were thrilled to welcome two new members, Elaine Enis and Dani Grissman, along with a visiting potential new member. Susan kicked things off with an engaging icebreaker on confidence—sparking a lively discussion on what makes someone appear confident and how we can all embody that confidence in our personal and professional lives. It was such a fun way to connect and learn from each other. Once we moved our meeting to the breezeway next to Aromas, we had the pleasure of hearing from Kim, who shared her expertise as an insurance broker, offering impartial advice to help us navigate our options. Looking ahead, we’ve got plenty of exciting things lined up for the rest of the year, including a Sip & Shop member showcase and a year-end party, which will be a Dip Party—guaranteed to be a blast! Cheryl and Staci are also teaming up to coordinate a special sound bath event, so stay tuned for more details. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this meeting so fun and full of energy. We can’t wait for what’s next! With gratitude, Christine Moreau On behalf of the WISE Board

Laughter has a remarkable ability to make us happy because it triggers a cascade of positive physiological and emotional responses in the body and mind. Laughter causes the brain to release endorphins, the body's natural feel-good chemicals. These endorphins boost our mood, promote an overall sense of well-being, and even help reduce physical pain. It lowers the levels of stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. By reducing these, laughter helps us feel more relaxed and less anxious. Studies show that laughter can improve immune function by increasing the production of antibodies and activating immune cells like T-cells, which help fight off illness. When you laugh, you take in more oxygen, which stimulates your heart, lungs, and muscles. This increase in oxygen improves circulation and helps you feel more energized. Laughter is often a shared experience, and it brings people closer together, fostering connection and strengthening relationships. Feeling connected to others naturally increases happiness. Laughter allows us to see things from a lighter perspective. Even difficult situations can feel more manageable when approached with a sense of humor, helping to reduce negative emotions. In essence, laughter is like a mini workout for your body and a big boost for your spirit! Whether through a funny movie, a good joke, or sharing silly moments with friends, laughter can brighten your day and elevate your happiness. Written By Staci Hill
